What did the mention “FEA” on Ricciardo’s helmet mean?

Daniel Ricciardo's helmet had a special mention for the Monaco Grand Prix, with the letters "FEA" written on it. The Australian driver explained this choice.

Daniel Ricciardo is on the edge of the abyss at the beginning of the 2022 season. Already struggling in 2021, the former Red Bull driver is potentially on his way out. After a crash in free practice 2 and a disappointing qualifying session, he finishes the race with a significant lack of pace and, most importantly, outside of the points in 13th place, while his teammate Lando Norris finishes 6th.

It was noticed this weekend the mention FEA on Ricciardo’s helmet, which stands for “Fuck them all”, which politely translates into “Let them all go fuck themselves.” He ensures that this gesture was personal and did not target anyone in particular, explaining: “I put that on my helmet in 2018 as well. I like using acronyms to motivate myself. To be honest, no one is targeted, it’s something I’ve been saying for many years and it makes me happy. Also, I think as a driver, when you put on the helmet, it has the effect of a switch. It’s one of the last things I see when I put on the helmet, so it reminds me to focus.”

Frustrated by a lack of performance and negative comments from the media and his manager, Zak Brown, who mentions clauses in his contract that could lead to his departure, he adds: « But it’s not just me, the team wants to see me achieve better results. It’s not just me who doesn’t want to be 14th. The team doesn’t want to see me [in that position] either. I don’t think it necessarily changes anything for the future, but there is an emphasis on improving together. »
