Bottas believes that the risks taken during the race paid off
Once again in the points in Monaco thanks to his ninth place, Valtteri Bottas considered it a worthwhile gamble by his team that allowed him to score once again.

Highly anticipated in Monaco, Alfa Romeo ultimately disappointed on Saturday in qualifying. Guanyu Zhou qualified last, not helped by the red flag at the end of Q1. Valtteri Bottas was eliminated in Q2, finishing twelfth. Not the expected result for a team that was considered at least on par with Mercedes as the third force on the grid, especially considering the importance of a good qualifying performance in Monaco.
Despite that, Valtteri Bottas managed to score valuable points for Frédéric Vasseur’s team. The Finnish driver crossed the finish line in ninth position, adding two units to his team’s total points. They are currently fifth in the constructors’ championship, just one point ahead of Alpine.
Bottas was very happy with his performance and that of his team this Sunday. It was a quite long race, but we can be happy that our opportunities matter as a team. It was really easy to make mistakes and I’m glad that wasn’t the case. Gaining positions in Monaco is never easy, so being in the points starting from P12 on the grid shows that it wasn’t a bad day.
A team performance that the former Mercedes driver wants to highlight even more. We made the right strategic choices, which was a challenge because it wasn’t easy to choose the right tires at every moment. We took calculated risks and they paid off.
A Valtteri Bottas of great days found since his arrival at Alfa Romeo. The Finn can aspire to the position of “best of the rest” at the end of the season, even if very serious opponents like Lando Norris will surely be in his path.
