Jos Verstappen has been critical of Red Bull's strategy in Monaco, which favored Sergio Pérez's victory rather than supporting his son Max, the world championship leader.

Rare occurrence in Monaco this weekend, Red Bull did not favor Max Verstappen. For once, slightly behind Sergio Pérez throughout the entire weekend, the Austrian team let the Mexican go and secure a magnificent victory in the Principality.

A choice made by Red Bull that did not please Max’s father, Jos Verstappen. As a father, I was disappointed with the race. Max’s third place was very disappointing, wrote former Arrows driver on his website.

Jos Verstappen didn’t really appreciate that Red Bull didn’t favor the championship leading driver. Red Bull got a good result, but at the same time, they exerted little influence to help Max at the front. That he finished third, he owes it to Ferrari’s mistake during Charles Leclerc’s second pit stop. The championship leader, Max, was not helped in this regard by the chosen strategy. It completely turned in favor of Checo. It was disappointing for me and I would have liked it to be different for the championship leader.

He still recognizes his lack of objectivity, which can be understood. I would have liked them to choose Max, but of course I am not entirely objective.

With this victory in Monaco, Sergio Pérez has closed the gap to Max Verstappen to 15 points. If the Mexican continues to perform exceptionally well as he has been since the beginning of the season, Red Bull might be forced, at some point, to make a decision to favor Verstappen or to let both of them compete for the championship, especially against Charles Leclerc.
