By securing a sixth place in Monaco, Lando Norris continues to deliver impressive performances. His consistency is quite remarkable, as excluding the first Grand Prix where McLaren was completely lost at the back of the grid, as well as his retirement in Monaco, the young British driver has always been in the points.

This weekend, not fully recovered from his tonsillitis, Norris still managed to have a very strong race. Setting the fastest lap of the race, which awarded him an extra point, the Bristol native is nevertheless not completely satisfied with the outcome in Monaco. There’s no reason to complain. Sometimes you can easily win in these conditions, sometimes you can lose, and today we lost. So, not unhappy – a bit frustrating to lose a position and it was one or two points, but the team still did a good job apart from that, and we survived the race – it was long and tough.

Norris emphasizes the difficulty of driving in Monaco in the rain. « In these conditions, I cannot describe how difficult it is to drive a Formula 1 car on this track. It’s truly one of the most frightening things I have ever done in my life. But yes, it’s fun and rewarding at the same time, and I am so happy with P6. »

The McLaren driver nevertheless specified that he wasn’t really at 100% due to his tonsillitis, but that he is not far from it anymore. « Not completely, I still need a bit of recovery, which I will do in the next few weeks to make sure I am ready for Baku. I am confident. I feel that I am driving well, I am confident with the car right now. »

While Daniel Ricciardo continues to disappoint, Lando Norris will once again try to secure valuable points for the team in Baku.
