Leclerc extremely disappointed after the Monaco Grand Prix
Finishing fourth in his home Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc is understandably very disappointed with the result in Monaco, especially considering that a victory was highly achievable.

For the first time, Charles Leclerc finished a race in Monaco. The fourth place he obtained this weekend is inevitably his best result in the principality. However, considering the race conditions, Leclerc can logically be extremely disappointed, as before the track dried up, he was heading towards his first victory on these streets.
The most frustrating thing is that the Monégasque was probably doing everything perfectly. The mistakes were strategic and not on track caused by the driver. The first of the two made by Ferrari occurs on lap 18, when the Italian team asks Leclerc to come in for intermediate tires, one lap after Pérez. The Mexican comes out well ahead. Sainz, on the other hand, stays on wet tires.
The second one happens on lap 21, when Ferrari asks Sainz and Leclerc to pit for slick tires, before telling Leclerc to stay out on track. It’s too late, as the Monegasque driver is already in the pits and loses precious seconds behind his teammate. A second mistake that allows Max Verstappen to overtake, leaving Leclerc in fourth place.
“It was a bloody disaster today,” declares Leclerc. “The victory was clearly in our hands. We had the performance, we had everything. I just really don’t understand the pit stop call I received, and I need explanations for now. I couldn’t do more, I was called just before the last turn, so I couldn’t react or ask for any information, but it was clearly the wrong choice… we need to do better.”
During the red flag caused by Mick Schumacher’s accident, Leclerc revealed that he used this time just to calm himself down, because as you could see, I was quite upset.
Charles Leclerc leaves Monaco with a nine-point deficit to his main championship rival Max Verstappen. Behind him, Sergio Pérez narrows the gap to just six small points thanks to his victory.
