Fines for speeding in the pits during FP1
During Free Practice 1 session in Monaco this Friday, three drivers were fined for speeding in the pit lane.
During the first free practice session of the Monaco Grand Prix, three drivers were fined by the FIA. The reason was the same for all three cars: speeding in the pit lane, which is limited to 60 km/h like some other circuits. Therefore, all three of them violated article 34.7 of the FIA Sporting Code, which states that it is prohibited to exceed the speed limit imposed in the pit lane.
Sergio Pérez initially received a 300€ fine. The Mexican drove at 63 km/h in the pit lane, which is 3 km/h above the allowed limit.
Next, it’s Valtteri Bottas, who didn’t set a timed lap throughout the session due to an issue with his C42, who was penalized. During his only outing of the hour from the pits, the Finnish driver was clocked at 81.9 km/h, which is 21.9 km/h above the limit. The FIA has imposed a fine of €1000 on him.
Same penalty finally for Yuki Tsunoda, the Japanese driver went at 76.4 km/h in the pit lane, which is 16.4 km/h above the authorized speed.
