In Spain, Ferrari brought its first major upgrades to the F1-75. While Red Bull chose to bring small upgrades to almost every race, the Scuderia seems to be taking the gamble of introducing a new major package after a few races without real improvements.

Before his turbo and MGU-H gave out, Charles Leclerc was in the process of proving that the updates are working well on the red car. Leading in all three practice sessions, securing pole position, and comfortably managing the race ahead of everyone else, the Monegasque was heading towards another success this season.

He will have to get used to this new package during four Grand Prix, before others arrive. This is what Mattia Binotto explained before the Monaco weekend. « I think it will be around Great Britain, where perhaps some developments will arrive. »

The Team Principal of the Scuderia explains this choice of development philosophy by the limits set by the budget cap. « I think the budget cap dictates what we can do. We definitely have to examine it closely and not waste our money, because we simply can’t afford to do so. »

He adds that the city circuits that are coming up in the upcoming races confirm his choice of the Scuderia. « I think we will make improvements when we have a significant one. We won’t bring new parts for every race. In addition to that, I think you can watch the next races. We have Monaco now where maybe you’ll bring a new front suspension for the steering angle, and later on, we have Baku which is a city circuit. »
