Norris, sick, had a very difficult race in Barcelona
Sick all weekend, Lando Norris endured a very challenging race. A race that still sees him score points with an eighth-place finish.

In Spain, Lando Norris continued his good start to the season. Apart from his retirement in Miami and a catastrophic car in Bahrain during the first Grand Prix of the season, the British driver has consistently finished in the points, notably achieving a podium at Imola for the fourth race of the season.
By finishing eighth in Barcelona, Norris confirms his consistency behind the wheel of the McLaren. But for him, this Spanish Grand Prix was much tougher than usual. The reason? He was sick the entire weekend. Especially on Sunday before the race, where we could see him sitting, visibly weakened, in the truck during the drivers’ parade.
“(e) Today has been tough,” declares Norris after the race. “(e) I was feeling really unwell before the race because I’m suffering from tonsillitis, and that, combined with the high temperatures, has made this race one of the toughest I’ve ever done.”
A suboptimal condition that didn’t prevent him from scoring points and, most importantly, finishing ahead of his teammate Daniel Ricciardo once again. And this despite a disrupted preparation. I was a bit behind this weekend because I devoted most of my energy to fighting this illness. I had to miss many engineering sessions, which compromised my weekend, and I certainly wasn’t as prepared for this Grand Prix as I could have been. With that in mind, I’m really happy to have come out of the race with good points for the team.
We hope that the condition of the Bristol native will be better for the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend.
