Alonso loses points after a second penalty
Fernando Alonso lost his 9th place obtained on the track due to a second penalty received after the Grand Prix finish.

It was clearly not Fernando Alonso’s day. The Spaniard, already penalized with a 5-second penalty for the incident with Pierre Gasly on lap 39, saw his earned points on the track vanish after a second penalty of 5 seconds.
Having crossed the finish line in 8th position, before being reclassified as 9th due to a 5-second penalty, Alonso still managed to score points in a Grand Prix animated by the safety car a few laps before the end, allowing Alpine to score 6 points in the constructors’ championship, as Esteban Ocon finished in 8th position.
But the double world champion was given a second 5-second penalty after the Grand Prix finish. The reason? The Spaniard cut through the chicane of turns 14 and 15, with the stewards later determining that he gained an advantage in the maneuver. At the same time, he also received a penalty point on his super license.
So it is Alex Albon and Lance Stroll who benefit from this. The Canadian scores the point for the 10th position, just a tiny tenth ahead of Alonso in terms of penalties. Initially, it was Daniel Ricciardo who held this last point-scoring position, but the Australian also received a 5-second penalty as he was deemed, like the Alpine driver, to have gained an advantage by cutting a corner, and thus finishes in 13th place.
