Out of the 20 scheduled laps, we had a total of 13 laps under Safety Car / Virtual Safety Car. It was a challenging race.

Dennis Hauger has taken pole position following the reversed grid and Jack Doohan’s disqualification.

Everything goes well at the beginning, until the second round, where Amaury Cordeel (VAR) hits the wall. We have the first Safety Car. The restart is done on the seventh lap. Norwegian Dennis Hauger, in the lead, restarts as late as possible. Without any problems at the front…

However, there was a misunderstanding between Logan Sargeant and Jack Doohan at the back… The latter crashed his car into the American’s… Another Safety Car.

The incomprehension.

And there… confusion… the teams receive the following indication: « Safety Car through the pit lane » this means that the SC goes through the pit lane because it is located at the beginning of the stands to rejoin the pack at turn 2. Under no circumstances should the drivers pass through there! However, the pit lane is closed. The signs are clearly visible but the Prema Norwegian driver goes through the pits alone! He comes out in 12th place and will be penalized with a 10-second stop and go at his pit…

Lawson in force

The race is relaunched by Calan Williams on the 14th lap! Unfortunately, he will drop in the rankings.

We will have a final Safety Car intervention on the 19th lap following Marcus Armstrong’s spin!

After a great comeback from Liam Lawson, he goes on to secure his second victory in Formula 2 and his third podium in three races! Juri Vips overtakes Jake Hughes on the finish line to take second place. Hughes completes the podium, achieving his first podium finish as well as VAR Motorsport!

Unfortunately, our French drivers Clément Novalak and Théo Pourchaire are out of the points, currently in 13th and 15th positions.

See you tomorrow at 3:35 PM for the main race.
