Mick Schumacher: (English) Points are now a realistic goal
If the 2022 technical revolution makes someone very happy, it is probably Mick Schumacher, who now owns a car capable of reaching Q2.

Since the winter tests in Bahrain, Haas gave the impression of having made a lot of progress. And for good reason, the American team announced that from 2020 onwards, they would fully focus on 2022, even if it meant sacrificing 2021.
Distant last year, the Haas could well assert themselves at the beginning of this season as the 4th or 5th best team on the grid.
Indeed, Mick Schumacher succeeded in his first attempt in 2022 to make it into Q2. An achievement that the German driver had only managed twice last season. A progress that was praised by Schumacher in an interview with Laurent Dupin:
We now have a car that has the ability to fight with the others and points are now a realistic objective.
If 12th place would have been seen as an excellent result in 2021, Mick Schumacher seemed relatively disappointed with his performance. Indeed, his teammate Kevin Magnussen did even better than him, managing to take his Haas to Q3, specifically in 7th position.
So there was a much better result to be achieved for the son of the seven-time world champion.
To know that the potential to make it into Q3 is positive, but I’m not extremely happy right now because I stayed in Q2. But definitely knowing that I have 22 more chances to make it into Q3 is a good thing.
With now a teammate much more experienced than Nikita Mazepin, Mick Schumacher has a better benchmark to progress in the premier category of motorsport.
