Alonso is already thinking about 2023
While the 2022 season has not yet begun and all eyes are on Barcelona for pre-season testing, Fernando Alonso is already looking ahead to 2023.

The 2022 season is supposed to be Fernando Alonso’s last in Formula 1. The two-time world champion returned to the starting grid last year after a two-year absence. The Spaniard signed a two-season contract with Alpine, which expires at the end of this year.
A few weeks before the first Grand Prix of the season, the Oviedo native would not be against continuing the adventure. “For now, I feel very motivated, very happy, and I really enjoyed last year. I am now looking forward to facing the challenge that 2022 represents. So if I had to decide now, I would say yes,” he declared to RTL Germany. Alonso plans to make a decision about his future around the middle of 2022.
Although the Spanish driver can decide for himself whether he wants to continue, it is not certain that it will be possible with the French team. Indeed, Alpine has signed a long-term contract with the French driver Esteban Ocon and also has under contract, within its Academy, the talented Australian driver Oscar Piastri, who is scheduled to become a regular in the team.
The future of the F1 track veteran is a series that is just beginning and will undoubtedly be at the heart of many conversations throughout the season.
