Norris and McLaren extend until 2025!
After a very successful 2021 season, McLaren and Lando Norris have decided to extend their partnership until 2025.

At the dawn of the winter testing for the 2022 Formula 1 season, McLaren announced the extension of their young protege Lando Norris’ contract until 2025.
McLaren-Norris: a long love story
The British driver had joined the Woking team in 2019 after an excellent 2018 campaign in F2, which saw him finish in second place.
After two solid seasons alongside Carlos Sainz between 2019 and 2020, Lando Norris truly established himself as a future champion in 2021 by holding the third place in the driver’s championship for a good part of the season.
His season was notably marked by 4 podiums (Imola, Monaco, Austria, and Italy) and his outstanding performance in Russia where a poorly calculated strategic gamble cost him the first position.
“Lando Norris on his contract extension:”
The previous season was another big step forward, both personally and in terms of the team’s performance. I can truly see the team’s hard work, dedication, and determination to fight for victories and titles in the future. This gives me a lot of confidence in the future. Therefore, it was very natural to extend my contract with McLaren for a few more years.
A synonym of good omen?
Since the arrival of Zak Brown and Andreas Seidl, the Woking structure has truly been on the rise for several years. What was a mediocre midfield team in 2018 quickly became the best among the rest in 2019.
With its talented engineers and the resources of the British brand, the extension of Lando Norris strongly suggests that McLaren did not miss out on this technical revolution and that we can expect them to be on the forefront in 2022.
Indeed, Lando Norris could have waited until mid-season to renew his contract in order to better understand where McLaren stands in the hierarchy, but an extension in February shows the British driver’s confidence in his team for this new era of Formula 1.
