After Lewis Hamilton in late December, another active Formula 1 driver has been honored by his country. Daniel Ricciardo has been made a member of the Australian Order in a ceremony organized by the Governor-General of the country.

This accolade rewards both the sporting achievements of the Perth-born native and his involvement in charitable activities. Ricciardo, for example, is an ambassador for the organization Save The Children, which works towards children’s education worldwide.

The man with 8 victories and 32 podiums to date is not the first Australian Formula 1 driver to be honored in this way. He follows in the footsteps of the triple world champion Jack Brabham and Mark Webber.
