Alain Prost leaves Alpine, Szafnauer arrives
The four-time world champion, Alain Prost, who was until now an advisor within the Alpine team, has announced his departure from the team. The doors are opening even wider for Otmar Szafnauer.

He had joined the Renault team as a consultant and special advisor when the manufacturer returned as a factory team in 2016. Alain Prost will not be renewed in his position in 2022 and therefore leaves the French team. This is the second notable departure at Alpine, following the departure of Technical Director Marcin Budkowski on January 13th.
This succession of departures more than ever opens the door to former Aston Martin director, Otmar Szafnauer, after several months of denial.
His arrival at the “Blues” could also lead to a slight change in the livery of the blue car: a touch of pink, considering that BWT has apparently left the “Greens” of Aston Martin.
Two things remain to be known: what could the American-Romanian bring to the French team? And most importantly: what will the A522 look like?
