Charles Leclerc tested positive for Covid-19 after his return from Abu Dhabi. Last January, the driver who just finished 7th in the World Championship had already been infected with the virus. Luckily, this happened several weeks before the start of the new season.

This time, it’s after the last Grand Prix of the year that the 24-year-old driver tested positive. On his Twitter account, his Ferrari team reveals that Leclerc is experiencing mild symptoms and is isolating at home.

This is the ninth positive result among Formula 1 drivers. In 2020, Sergio Pérez, Lance Stroll, and Lewis Hamilton each had to miss one or multiple races because of the virus.

During the off-season, Charles Leclerc, as well as Pierre Gasly and Lando Norris, also contracted Covid. Finally, in 2021, Kimi Räikkönen was forced to skip the Dutch and Italian Grand Prix, and Nikita Mazepin had to skip the Abu Dhabi one.
