First victory in F2 for the New Zealander Marcus Armstrong on his Dams!

He was able to be opportunistic and take the lead from Liam Lawson at the first turn.

Accident at the first corner, Marino Sato and Guilherme Samaia have to retire, causing the Safety Car to come out.

On the restart, the Chinese driver Guanyu Zhou spins out while trying to overtake Christian Lundgaard who closes the door on him. The Chinese driver has to change the front wing and comes out last.

Race a bit soporific, despite some overtaking including a great one by Théo Pourchaire on the Swiss Ralph Boschung struggling with his Campos.

Russian driver Robert Shwartzman receives a five-second penalty for not giving back the position to Theo Pourchaire.

At that moment, the French driver misses his braking and ends up in the wall… it’s retirement for Théo Pourchaire… he will have to start from the eighteenth position in race 2 tonight. It’s quite rare for the native of Grasse to make a mistake on his own.

Oscar Piastri, leader of the championship, finishes in ninth place after starting from tenth. He will be in second place on the grid for race 2.

Clément Novalak, who was competing in his first F2 race, finishes in fourteenth place.

Bent Viscaal, for his part, will start in pole position!

See you tonight at 7:30 p.m. for race sprint 2!
