This is the very first Saudi Arabian Grand Prix that will take place in Jeddah. A new circuit that therefore raises some mysteries to find out which cars are best suited to the track. This kind of opportunity could benefit smaller teams like Alfa Romeo. The head of track engineering of the Italian team hopes to bring a podium finish from this Grand Prix.

« We are lacking a bit of rhythm, we want to understand what we can do to find this rhythm again and we can also see certain teams racing from race to race, for example, Alpine in Qatar, they were on the podium. »

If we analyze all of this and understand, we would also like to have an opportunity in the next two races, explains Xevi Pujolar.

But Pujolar is not stupid, he knows that for such an opportunity to arise, there would need to be a bit of a stir at the front of the grid. And a new circuit could very well bring about this kind of thing according to him.

« Of course, something has to happen at the front, but if it happens in Jeddah, we have a new race and a new circuit for everyone, so maybe an opportunity is there and we want to work hard next week to seize those opportunities if they are there, », said Pujolar.

Alfa Romeo is therefore arriving in Jeddah with the ambition of finishing its season better, but also of bringing back a surprise podium. Especially since their drivers are leaving at the end of the season, including Kimi Räikkönen retiring. So a podium to close his career would be ideal for both him and his team.
