Red Bull had a complicated weekend, especially after the penalty imposed on Verstappen, which saw him drop 5 places on the starting grid. A penalty that continued to be talked about, even after the race. The comments made by Christian Horner against the stewards are to blame.

« I think it’s just a dishonest steward who waved a flag and he didn’t receive any instructions from the FIA. They must have control over their stewards, it’s as simple as that. Because it’s a decisive blow in the World Championship for us. », Horner explained just before the race to Sky Sports.

These remarks were quickly reported to the FIA by Michael Masi, as they did not comply with two articles of the international sporting code. The two articles in question prohibit statements: « Causing moral harm or loss to the FIA » and « any misconduct towards officials »

Christian Horner was given an official warning following his comments and then apologized to the stewards and the FIA.

I spoke to the FIA, I apologized if any offense had been caused in any way because it was not the intention. But all the commissioners, we need you, we think you’re doing a great job and we apologize if you felt offended.

His colleague at Red Bull, Helmut Marko, has not changed his opinion on this incident.

« This is ridiculous. You know that the FIA cannot organize a proper system of stewards and is hiding its incompetence on the driver’s shoulders. », explains the Austrian to DAZN.
