Pirelli brings its hardest tires to Qatar
On Monday, the Italian manufacturer unveiled its tire choice for the first Grand Prix of Qatar.

Pirelli expects a very demanding race based on the data and simulations provided by the teams. The Losail circuit has challenging turns and would have rather abrasive asphalt for the tires. For these reasons, the Italian manufacturer has chosen to bring its hardest range of tires.
For the first time, Qatar hosts a Formula 1 Grand Prix. A long start-finish straight is complimented with a quick succession of 16 turns. Get all the details ahead of the #QatarGP 🇶🇦 #F1 #Fit4F1 #Formula1 #Pirelli https://t.co/QVpjFQPv9i pic.twitter.com/glMV8zjW9L

« Qatar will offer a new exciting challenge in a unique location with its own special character, so we are looking forward to our first visit. However, arriving at a new circuit is not a new experience for us, and we rely on simulation data as well as tracking information that we collect in advance to select the tire nomination that will be used. », says Mario Isola, Pirelli’s F1 boss.
« We did not have the chance to measure the roughness of the asphalt with our instruments, but the promoter provided us with very useful information about the characteristics of the asphalt. From what we can see, the hardest tires in the range will be well suited to Losail, due to the fairly abrasive asphalt and the very demanding turns. But since we have never really raced there before, we will only get a true picture of how the tires perform on this track once we arrive. »
