São Paulo Grand Prix – Verstappen "tried everything"
The Dutchman failed to resist his rival in the championship, but he still holds the lead in the championship with three races remaining.

After taking the lead of the race at the first turn at the start, Max Verstappen seemed to be in the ideal position to win for the tenth time this season and have a match point at the Qatar Grand Prix next week. But that was without counting on the thunderous comeback of Lewis Hamilton and his new engine from the middle of the grid.
« I tried everything but we clearly lacked pace, especially on an abrasive circuit like this one where we had to ask a little more from the tires to keep (Lewis) behind. But I’m not that disappointed because I think it’s a realistic result and at least we had fun battling (with Hamilton, editor’s note).
Regarding the incident with the British driver on the 48th lap: « We both braked very late to approach the turn, and I think it was correct. »
Translate: « The last week in Mexico we were very happy and here it’s the opposite. And it’s been like this throughout the season, so let’s see how things will unfold going forward. No changes are expected so we will do the best we can with what we have. »
The Red Bull driver maintains a 14-point lead over the seven-time world champion with just three races remaining before the conclusion of this 2021 season.
