New format F2 – F3 for 2022!
The FIA has decided to backtrack for Formula 2 and Formula 3 by bringing together the formulas on the same weekend and reverting to 2 races!

After this 2021 season, highly criticized for its extended schedule for F2 with numerous two-month breaks between race weekends, the FIA is almost returning to its former format.
The F2 and F3 will return during the same weekend unlike this year (Except in Sochi). The support formulas will still be present at the same time as Formula 1.
The trials and qualifications will still be on Fridays. Changes concern the races: The format goes back to 2 races per weekend, a Sprint race on Saturday with a grid determined by the top 10 of the reversed qualifications (Top 12 for F3). The main race will take place on Sunday and the grid will be the result of the qualifications. Until 2019, the sprint race took place on Sunday and the grid was composed according to the top 8 of the main race.
Starting from 2022, the grid will therefore be formed by qualifications and not by the results of the long race. The calendar will soon be revealed by the FIA, there may be between 10 and 12 weekends in the year.
