Italian Grand Prix – F2: Main Race – Piastri dominates!

Oscar Piastri overcame the obstacles of the Safety Car to win the main race and pocket the 25 victory points. Guanyu Zhou in second place and Dan Ticktum in third complete the podium.

Oscar Piastri, who started from pole position, dominated this main race, despite Safety Car periods and a battle with Guanyu Zhou. The latter started third and immediately took the second position, which he held until the end.

Meanwhile, Théo Pourchaire is starting his small climb by gaining a position.

The first Safety Car is out. At the restart, a great battle between Liam Lawson and Guanyu Zhou.

A second Safety Car intervenes on the eighth lap following Juri Vips’ Hitec GP engine problem. Therefore, all drivers on soft tires make a pit stop.

Dan Ticktum takes the lead of the race after starting on medium tires.

Retirement of the second Hitech GP and third Safety Car (Lawson’s fire extinguisher went off). Dan Ticktum takes the opportunity to switch to soft tires. He comes out in 11th place.

On the restart, Dan Ticktum is hit by Boschung and misses the chicane (and also the escape route). He overtakes two drivers. Théo Pourchaire continues his climb by passing Jehan Daruvala for third place.

Dan Ticktum makes a crazy comeback to overtake Théo Pourchaire for third place. An investigation has been opened into Dan Ticktum’s action at the restart.

A final Safety Car appears for the last lap.

Dan Ticktum will not receive a penalty, so he will finish third. Meanwhile, Australian Oscar Piastri takes the victory ahead of Guanyu Zhou and strengthens his lead in the championship with now a fifteen-point advantage.
