Italian F2 Grand Prix: Qualifying – Oscar Piastri takes pole position!
The young Australian driver from the Prema team will start on pole position for the long race this Sunday, ahead of Jehan Daruvala and Guanyu Zhou.

The battle for the awarding of the Formula 2 title is in full swing and the two leaders of the ranking will be lining up one behind the other at the start of the long race. The young Prema driver secures his second consecutive pole position.
Indeed Oscar Piastri, the current leader of the championship, will meet his closest competitor in the standings, Guanyu Zhou, on Sunday. This qualifying result means that they will also be close together at the start of sprint race 1 tomorrow morning. Due to the reversed grid, Oscar Piastri will start from the 10th position just behind the UNi-Virtuosi driven by Guanyu Zhou (8th).

The bad operation of the day is to be credited to Robert Shwartzmann who only managed to place his Prema in a meager 12th place. He will have to bounce back this weekend if he doesn’t want to see his teammate as well as the Chinese driver fly off in the championship.
Note that Théo Pourchaire, the only driver competing in F2 this year, will start 7th on Sunday and 4th tomorrow morning for the first sprint race.
