Dutch Grand Prix – Organizers call on fans not to boo Lewis Hamilton
The Grand Prix of the Netherlands and its organizer hope to see "sensible" and "sporting" behavior from Dutch spectators this weekend.

The battle between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen is almost at its peak. If the British driver is currently leading the driver standings, this weekend, Max Verstappen will do everything possible to take back the lead of the championship. The Dutch driver will be supported by a crowd completely devoted to his cause, supporters known for their limitless enthusiasm for the national driver.
Since the beginning of the season, we have been witnessing a spectacular battle between the two rivals on the track, a battle that reached its peak during the first lap crash in England. Max Verstappen’s Oranje fans probably haven’t forgotten this crash, which could prove costly at the end of the season for the World Championship title.
For several races, Lewis Hamilton has been regularly booed by the crowd. These jeers were long justified by the public’s weariness due to the dominance of the silver arrows. But since the British Grand Prix and this impressive collision between the championship leaders, it seems that the “orange people” have taken a dislike to Lewis Hamilton, seeing him as solely responsible for Max Verstappen’s retirement.
This is why Jan Lammers, the sports director of the event, wanted to send a message to the local audience asking them to remain “sensible” and “sportsmanlike” during this Grand Prix weekend.
He was explaining the essence of this message to our colleagues at Motorsport:
By saying this, I am also thinking of all the people who have worked hard for a year and a half or two years. I would like to ask the spectators: help the people who made this event possible to turn it into something we can be proud of and do not tarnish it with your reaction to an incident.
