The new Esports drivers of McLaren

After Ferrari, Mercedes, Alfa Romeo, and Alpine, it is now McLaren’s turn to present its sim racers for the 2021 F1 Esports season. Since its creation in 2017, the level has continued to increase exponentially, and the lineup of the British team is a very good illustration with a more than competent trio.

The big surprise is undoubtedly the arrival of Dani Bereznay. The former Alfa Romeo driver has found refuge at McLaren Shadows. The Woking team plans to make good use of the experience of the Hungarian who had been a key player in Mercedes’ title in 2018. Bereznay has never finished a season outside the Top 5.

The second driver is none other than Bardia Boroumand. Coming from Mercedes, he was the third driver of the star brand last year and had only done one race. A real missed opportunity for the fastest drivers of F1 2020 as confirmed by his second place in the last season of PSGL just behind the Esports champion, Jarno Opmeer.

The last driver of the trio is Josh Idowu, who was trained at the McLaren Shadow academy. The young Welshman finished 2nd in the Challenger Series, the gateway to the Pro Series, and intends to establish himself immediately as a top contender in the championship.

Given the track record of each of the three drivers, McLaren’s goal will be to finally beat sixth place in the standings and to succeed in challenging the giants that are Red Bull and Alfa Romeo.
