After Cyril Abiteboul’s important departure this winter, it is now Remi Taffin’s turn to step down. He left in July by “mutual agreement.” No replacement is planned at the moment. However, his responsibilities are expected to be taken over by existing staff members.

Taffin started working for Renault in 1999. He held various positions in Grand Prix, including as a race engineer for Jenson Button. He held this position during Fernando Alonso’s two world championship titles in 2005 and 2006 for the French team.

Ten years later, in 2009, he became in charge of track activities before taking over the role of Renault’s engine customers in 2011. When Renault returned to Formula 1 as a full manufacturer in 2016, Taffin became the technical director of engines, even leading the development of the powertrain at the Viry-Châtillon headquarters. He remained in the company for 20 years.
