Franz Tost (AlphaTauri) wants to keep Gasly and Tsunoda for 2022
AlphaTauri has still not confirmed its driver lineup for 2022. Franz Tost wants to keep Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda for the next season.
Will Gasly and Tsunoda be at AlphaTauri next year? This is what Franz Tost, the team manager, hopes. He believes that he has the perfect duo to achieve good results. The French driver got a podium in Baku this season and a magnificent win in Monza last year. Tost is expecting Tsunoda to have a strong second half of the season.
« I hope we can continue with these two drivers because Pierre Gasly is a fantastic driver, very fast and very experienced. He has integrated well into the team. I also want to keep Yuki Tsunoda. We have trained him for a year and I expect a very good second half of the season from him.
Since his arrival, the Japanese driver has made some regrettable mistakes, especially during the tests in Hungary. The driver also loses his temper during radio exchanges. He had to move to Italy and follow a special program. However, Tost is counting on him for next year, so that he gains experience:
He is doing a good job. We must not forget that he is new. He is a rookie. He is in a good position and if he keeps it up, we will see a very good second half of the season and we will then be ready for next year. I hope he will be with us.
AlphaTauri is currently sixth in the constructor standings, 20 points ahead of Aston Martin.
