The gaps are narrowing at the top of the standings. Lewis Hamilton has made great strides towards Max Verstappen, who was unable to score any points this Sunday after his collision with the Briton. The Dutch driver still managed to score 3 points thanks to his pole position in the Sprint Qualifying.

Behind the two main contenders for the world title, Lando Norris and Valtteri Bottas took advantage of Sergio Perez’s troubles to respectively move up to 3rd and 4th place. With his podium, the Finnish driver is gradually closing in on the McLaren driver, who now only has a 5-point lead over Lewis Hamilton’s teammate.

With his magnificent second place finish yesterday, Charles Leclerc is getting some breathing room over his teammate Carlos Sainz and now has a 12-point lead over the Spaniard.

Height of a convincing race on his team’s home soil, Daniel Ricciardo reinforces his 8th place in the standings and now has 50 points.

A point for the constructors’ championship

With a zero score, Red Bull sees Mercedes dangerously approaching and now only has a small 4-point lead over the German team after the Grand Prix.

The battle for third place in the constructor standings continues to rage between McLaren and Ferrari. The team based in Woking still leads the Italian team, but scored more points this weekend (26 compared to 22 for McLaren).
