Nothing is going right for Sergio Perez. The British Grand Prix is not successful for him at the moment. On Friday, the Red Bull driver was caught speeding in the pit lane, forcing his team to pay a €1000 fine. Yesterday, the Mexican lost control of his car coming out of Chapel on the 5th lap of the Sprint Qualifying, forcing him to restart the race at the back of the grid.

However, the troubles did not stop there for Max Verstappen’s teammate. Just minutes before the checkered flag, Red Bull ordered their driver to pit and retire. With this retirement, Perez was forced to start from the back this Sunday.

But tonight, Red Bull mechanics worked on the Mexican’s RB16B and broke the Parc Fermé rule to install new parts on the car, which will force him to start from the pit lane at 4:00 pm.

The Austrian team has installed a third battery and a third control unit on Perez’s car. Red Bull has also modified the Mexican’s rear wing, as well as the suspension and brake cooling settings.

« The component was replaced with the approval of the FIA technical delegate following a written request from the team, in accordance with Article 34.2 of the Formula 1 Sporting Regulations. However, since the new rear wing is different from the one originally used and changes have been made to the suspension settings and front brake cooling, car number 11 is required to start from the pit lane in accordance with Article 34.8b of the Formula 1 Sporting Regulations, as stated in the FIA statement.
