Lando Norris elected driver of the day in Spielberg
This Sunday, Lando Norris was elected Driver of the Day after a very good race at the Red Bull Ring.

This weekend, Lando Norris once again was impressive. Starting second, the British driver had an excellent start but couldn’t challenge Max Verstappen, who quickly pulled away. During the restart, after the Safety Car intervention following Esteban Ocon’s retirement, the McLaren driver resisted Sergio Perez’s attacks. Unfortunately, Norris’s defense was too aggressive and sent the Mexican into the gravel at turn 4, this move resulted in a 5-second penalty for him.
The young driver also battled many laps with Lewis Hamilton. He resisted the pressure put by the seven-time world champion for many laps. But faster, Mercedes #44 managed to pass the McLaren. Hamilton still recognized that his compatriot was a very good driver and emphasized it on the radio admitting, “What a driver this Lando!”
Despite this penalty, the Briton only lost one position to Valterri Bottas. At the end of the race, Lando Norris even managed to worry the Finn, in an attempt to reclaim his second place, but in vain.
With a splendid race, the McLaren driver steps onto the podium for the third time this season. His performance did not go unnoticed as the F1 community voted him as driver of the day. With his podium finish, the Briton is now only 3 points behind Sergio Perez, who is currently 3rd in the world championship.
