We take the same and start over, the drivers will, like last year, compete in two Grand Prix races at the Austrian Red Bull Ring circuit. If Max Verstappen seems to be the man to beat, he will have to pay attention to his pursuers who will be keen on beating the Dutchman in front of his fans.

One of the shortest circuits of the season

With only 4.318 km and featuring just 10 turns, the Spielberg circuit is one of the shortest tracks of the 2021 season. In the past, the Red Bull Ring was larger and called the Österreichring, built in 1969 and hosting the Austrian Grand Prix from 1970 to 1987. It was then renovated and redesigned by Hermann Tilke in 1995 and renamed the A1-Ring in reference to the Austrian telecommunications operator of the same name, hosting Formula 1 again from 1997 to 2003. Finally, after the demolition of the buildings and stands in 2004, it was bought the following year by Red Bull and rebuilt identically for the modest sum of 70 million euros. The Spielberg circuit eventually made its return to the Formula 1 calendar in 2014 and has hosted the Austrian Grand Prix every year since that date.

Thanks to its three DRS zones, two of which end in heavy braking, this circuit offers many overtaking opportunities, as evidenced by Charles Leclerc’s fantastic comeback last weekend:

The rain is eagerly awaited

If she made herself desired last weekend, it seems that the rain could make its appearance on Sunday in Spielberg. The practice sessions and the qualifying session should take place under dry track conditions.

Red Bull and Verstappen in front of their fans.

The Austrian firm and its star driver, Max Verstappen, will be able to count on the support of the fans who will be numerous this weekend. We know the fervor of the Dutch people for their national champion. Leading the driver’s championship, Max Verstappen can drive home the advantage over Lewis Hamilton, his runner-up, before going to face him on his home turf at Silverstone.

Lando Norris, author of a remarkable start to the season, will once again attempt to score points with his McLaren, for the 9th time in as many races. On the contrary, his teammate is struggling, Daniel Ricciardo must react by scoring big points in Austria.

Not translatable.

Finally, Scuderia Ferrari 6th and 7th in the last race, will surely be eager to do well and why not take advantage of an opportunity if contact occurs at the front of the pack.

Softer tires than last weekend
