Established in 2012 by the Formula 1 sports authority, curfew was introduced so that mechanics could have a minimum amount of sleep. From 11:30 pm to 9 am, no one is allowed to access the paddock. However, teams are allowed to break this curfew twice each season.

This Friday, McLaren used its first joker to work on one of the two cars, as indicated by the FIA in a statement.

Last night, the staff of the McLaren F1 Team, associated with the operation of the car, was within the circuit limits during the nine-and-a-half-hour period that began at 11:30 p.m. on June 18, twelve and a half hours before the scheduled start time of FP3, ending three hours before the start of FP3.

« This was the first of the two individual exceptions allowed for the McLaren F1 team during the 2021 Formula 1 championship season, and no action should be taken. »
