Azerbaijan Grand Prix F2: Juri Vips wins a thrilling Sprint 2 race
Estonian driver Juri Vips wins a completely crazy sprint race 2, ahead of David Beckman and Jehan Daruvala.

If the drivers had shown more restraint during the sprint race 1, it was quite the opposite for this second race at the Baku circuit. The Estonian driver from the Hitech Gp team built his victory on his own by overtaking Daruvala, Viscaal, and the leader David Beckmann.
Behind the leaders, the fight was fierce, causing a number of race neutralization accidents and retirements. Guanyu Zhou, the championship leader, lost a lot of points after this sprint race 2, due to a stuck accelerator, which caused a collision with Dan Ticktum at the first corner. While the Chinese driver supported by Alpine maintains his first place in the drivers’ standings, his pursuers are taking back points that could be crucial at the end of the season.

Ralph Boschung and Lirim Zendeli were forced to retire, as well as Richard Verschoor who was hit from behind by Roy Nissany’s DAMS. Two other drivers were unable to cross the finish line, indeed Marcus Armstrong, optimistic about an overtaking move at turn 4, saw his race end in the Techpro barriers. Christian Lundgaard did not have better luck, as he was clipped by Felipe Drugovich at the first corner, forcing the Danish driver to retire after only seven laps.
On the side of our French driver Théo Pourchaire, troubles did not spare him, if he started from a nice 6th position, the native of Grasse had to go back to the pits to change his front wing, starting from the back of the grid, he managed to stay calm and intelligent in order to climb back up to 9th place under the checkered flag.
