Ferrari is on an excellent streak. The Scuderia achieved its first pole position in over a year and a half, and returned to the joys of the podium in Monaco. However, this good momentum could come to a halt. Interviewed by the F1 website, Laurent Mekies expects a series of challenging races, starting with Baku.

Although it is a city circuit, the Azerbaijani track has very long straight lines, conducive to high top speeds. The power deficit of the Prancing Horse car could therefore put the Scuderia drivers in difficulty.

« Now begins a part of the season that looks complicated for us. If in Spain the SF21 was clearly the third best car in the field, in Monaco, it even showed the potential to win, the situation should be different in the upcoming races, starting with Baku. », says Laurent Mekies on the F1 website.

« Already this weekend, we expect to see a very strong McLaren, which should adapt very well to the characteristics of the track, and therefore take the lead of the group behind the two teams fighting for the world championship. We also believe that Alpine, AlphaTauri and Aston Martin will also be very competitive. ”

If the transalpine team expects a points harvest from McLaren, Ferrari is not going to play second fiddle and will seize every opportunity to score important points. Our main goal will be to maximize the available potential and try to make the most of every opportunity. To use a football metaphor, we will try to defend well and score on the counterattack.
