Lando Norris would like to participate in the Indianapolis 500 miles
Having a great interest in the Indianapolis 500, Lando Norris expressed his desire to participate in it in the coming years.

This is one of the most difficult challenges. In the 1950s, the American race had its place in the Formula 1 World Championship. At that time, the race did not conform to F1 rules, and only a few brave drivers from the discipline went to compete on the Indiana Speedway, like Jim Clark who won the 500 Miles in 1965.
Today, Formula 1 and the Indy 500 still have ties. Although the race has not been part of the premier category of motor sports since 1960, former F1 drivers regularly compete in it.
In the decades following Clark’s success, many F1 drivers have taken up the challenge of Indianapolis. However, in recent years, the trend seemed to have passed. That was without counting on Fernando Alonso who, in 2017, tried his luck on the Brickyard. The Spaniard’s goal was to win this event in order to become the second driver (after Graham Hill) to achieve the Triple Crown (winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Indy 500 and Monaco).
In the coming years, another Formula 1 driver could emulate the double world champion. Lando Norris shared with RACER magazine his interest in this race: “I watch the Indianapolis 500 and I watch IndyCar races as often as possible. It’s not something I want to do in the immediate future; I prefer to focus on Formula 1, but I will think about it. I would love to participate, but not for the moment.”
Norris would be willing to sacrifice the Monaco GP to go and race on the other side of the Atlantic (Monaco and the 500 Miles are usually organized on the same day).
« I’d rather win a championship than win Monaco. What’s surprising about winning Monaco is its history, because if you are in pole position and can lead into turn 1, it’s almost like a guaranteed victory in a way. It’s not like you’re doing something incredible to win. »
At Indianapolis, you have to do something crazier to win, with strategy, fuel management, and everything that follows. I think the 500 Miles is a prestigious event that people look forward to. This race is so unique and so different from what we usually see. So it’s something I would like to experience.
