Monaco Grand Prix – Ocon still in the top 10 and ahead of Alonso
Despite the complicated Alpine to operate in the narrow streets of Monaco, Esteban Ocon achieved a very good result by finishing 9th.

Starting 10th on the grid, Esteban Ocon had a very good Saturday by qualifying 6 positions ahead of Fernando Alonso, his two-time world champion teammate.
Ocon actually made a very strong start. After the first turn, the Frenchman climbed the streets of Monaco side by side with his former garage neighbor, Sergio Perez.
Taking advantage of Valtteri Bottas’ retirement, Esteban Ocon is offered the 9th position which he did not leave until the end of the race.
Stopping later than the others, the Alpine driver dove into the pits on the 38th lap. He managed to overtake Giovinazzi. Unfortunately, Ocon was overtaken later in the race by Lance Stroll, who started on an alternative strategy.
The Alpine driver is finally satisfied with his Monaco weekend, speaking to Canal+: “We weren’t at the best level in terms of speed with the car. We had a slight performance gap compared to other races so it’s nice to finish with some points.”
« We had a slight performance deficit compared to the other races. »
« This weekend will help us going forward to develop the car as we see that there are still some small things to improve. We keep searching and working. »
This is in any case the fourth consecutive entry in the top 10 for Esteban Ocon. The Alpine driver is fully asserting himself as the leader of his team and a solid driver in the midfield.
