The Asturias Bull is back for good in the top 10! In Imola, Fernando Alonso took advantage of a penalty imposed on Kimi Räikkönen to score the 10th place point. No need for the FIA this time to score in Portimao: the double world champion secures the 4 points for the eighth place.

Eliminated in Q2, Alonso has climbed positions since his 13th place start. The Alpine driver extended his first stint with his medium yellow-banded tires. Only one pit stop like the majority of drivers, but very late, on the 41st lap. Re-emerged 10th, the Spaniard passed Gasly and Sainz towards the end of the race. The pinnacle of a successful race, told on Canal+ microphone in the interview area, a few minutes after getting out of his car.

« I think this is the first race where I’ve been able to enjoy the battles on the track. The car was fantastic all weekend, we were in 5th place during the weekend, we could even have been in 3rd place during the last free practice session!

The car was fast and we were beating the McLarens. Mysteriously, the qualifying session did not go well. The performance was no longer there. But in the end, it’s a double entry into the points for our team. It’s a very good weekend in terms of performance. We are back!
