Bahrain Grand Prix: Vettel’s anger
Elimination in Q1 and frustration for the four-time world champion in his first Aston Martin qualifying session.

Worries continue to haunt Sebastian Vettel! Arrived at Aston Martin to revive his career, the experience begins badly with an 18th place at the end of qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix.
Slowed down by Mazepin’s spin.
As for Esteban Ocon, Vettel’s exit in Q1 is partly explained by a yellow flag waved at the first corner. The German passed just after Nikita Mazepin’s spin.
We could certainly have been faster. But it was impossible to overtake with the yellow flag. That’s how it is! Now, we will try to do what we can for tomorrow (editor’s note: Sunday),” Vettel underlined in the journalists’ square.
The former Ferrari driver actually found himself in a very compact group of cars, subject to the vagaries. “It was a mess,” reacted the driver with number 5.
In the end, Vettel will have a lot of people ahead of him at the start of his first Grand Prix with Aston Martin. But the four-time world champion remains philosophical… with a touch of annoyance: “If I panic now, will it help me? If I’m upset? Sure, I’m upset and angry. It wasn’t our fault in a way.”
Sebastian Vettel: « of course, I am annoyed and angry. It was not our fault in a way. »
4-time winner in Bahrain, Vettel still takes some positive from his Saturday: “I am learning. We still have a lot of work ahead of us. I think we can come back.”
This Sunday, Vettel starts from the second-to-last row, as he did with Ferrari at the Italian Grand Prix in September 2020. Starting 17th, the German retired due to a brake issue.
