A return to the Grand Prix awaited since 1960

The Aston Martin brand is often associated with the words luxury, prestige, and sportiness.

Beyond the fame acquired thanks to James Bond, Aston Martin has won its nobility in endurance racing, notably at the 24 Hours of Le Mans before and after the Second World War. Several models competed from 1931 to 1963, as well as in 1989; and then from 2005 to today through the Aston Martin Racing structure.

It should be noted that these are mostly participations in the GT category, often crowned with success. And they erase the stinging failure suffered by the English company in 2011 in the top category, LMP1.

Concerning Formula 1, Aston Martin was only registered in 1959 and 1960 by entering the DBR4 and then the DBR5 under the auspices of the David Brown Corporation. The results are poor, the team does not score a single point. Aston Martin will have participated in only 5 Grand Prix during these two years before focusing on the sports car championship.

The takeover of Aston Martin by Lawrence Stroll in 2019 allows the British team to return to the forefront with a solid foundation. Indeed, the starting point is the Racing Point team. The single-seater, which will be called AMR21, is actually an evolution of the 2020 Racing Point, which itself was a “copy” of the 2019 Mercedes.

With Sebastian Vettel recruited even before the start of the 2020 season, Aston Martin should probably offer better performances than its predecessors from the 1959-1960s.

The team based in Silverstone invites us to meet on March 3, 2021 at 4:00 pm and takes the opportunity to confirm BWT as a sponsor alongside Cognizant.

We can’t wait to discover the livery of this AMR21, and the return of the famous “British Racing Green” or “bottle green” on the starting grids by mid-March.
