This year, it is Sergio Perez who will serve as Max Verstappen’s teammate at Red Bull, replacing Alex Albon. The latter, engaged in DTM this season and still a reserve driver at Red Bull, does not want to admit defeat and continues to believe in his chances of returning in a year to the premier category of motorsport.

For his return, Albon is eyeing the A team of the Red Bull team but remains open to opportunities offered at Scuderia AlphaTauri. However, he acknowledges that Yuki Tsunoda is a driver with strong potential, especially after his solid performance during the 2020 Formula 2 season.

For this 2021 season, Albon asserts that he will remain focused on the disciplines in which he will be engaged but will stay alert to serve if needed, especially in this context marked by Covid-19.

When mentioning promises or contractual objectives agreed with Red Bull, the Thai driver claims that there aren’t really any, but that he will give 100% and stay focused on himself to reclaim what is his. «… As I said, I want to get that seat back… ».

Although now outside the circuit, Alex Albon continues to receive support from drivers still in competition. This is notably the case with Lando Norris, a friend of the Thai driver, who spoke about the cruelty of the climb in Formula 1. “It shows how tough F1 is. You can be excellent in all other motorsport categories, and then the competition becomes even harder when you reach F1… everything can stop very quickly,” stated the McLaren driver, referring to Albon’s departure.
