Fernando Alonso operated on for a fracture after his accident
After his car accident yesterday, Alpine confirmed that surgery was necessary but it should not impact his preparation for the start of the season.

As always, the media frenzy seized upon Fernando Alonso’s health status following his road accident. To recap, he was hit by a car while cycling on Swiss roads.
The team has just issued an official update on the health status of the double world champion: « After his bicycle accident yesterday, Fernando Alonso was kept under observation at the hospital in Switzerland. Doctors discovered a fracture in his upper jaw and successfully performed a corrective surgery. The medical team is satisfied with his progress. » This will require the Spaniard to remain under observation for two more days before being discharged.
Alpine has also looked to the future since the start of the season is fast approaching, with the first testing session just a month away and the first Grand Prix in six weeks: « After a few days of complete rest, he will be able to gradually resume training. We expect him to be fully operational to return to full preparation for the start of the season. »
The time is not for a frantic search for a backup plan to replace a driver who might not be able to return to competition after two years away from the paddocks.
