Marcus Armstrong, a driver from the Ferrari Driver Academy, and Roy Nissany have been announced as drivers for the French team DAMS in F2 this 2021 season.
« I am very happy to finally be able to join DAMS because we were already in contact for last season. The F2 championship is extremely competitive, and this year there will only be eight meetings. It is therefore crucial to start on a good foundation with an experienced team that competes to win. DAMS’ track record is impressive, especially in GP2 and F2, and it’s one of the best teams on the grid. » explains the New Zealand driver.
While Marcus Armstrong is at Fiorano with Ferrari for a test day, the Franco-Israeli driver Roy Nissany was able to take the wheel of the Williams in Abu Dhabi a few weeks ago during the young driver tests. He had also driven for Dams in private tests a few days earlier.
« I am delighted to join such a respected team as DAMS. They have an outstanding history in F2 and F3. We’ve already been able to work closely together last year, so I am looking forward to March. I hope we will fight at the front of the standings. » commented Roy Nissany.
Gregory and Olivier Driot, the co-owners of the team, are also thrilled about this opportunity given to Nissany: « We are super happy to welcome him. We have already been able to work together and are very pleased with his feedback. We are happy to see that it is already working well with the staff and engineers and that there is already good collaboration. We will do everything to provide him with the best possible tools in this new season. »
And are also delighted to welcome Armstrong: « We have been following his career and performances for several years and are happy to have reached an agreement for this season. It will be very important and we aim to win both titles. Marcus joined us during the end-of-season tests in Bahrain in December, and our engineers greatly appreciated his technical feedback. […] Marcus has big ambitions for his second F2 season, and the same goes for DAMS this year. We won the Teams’ title in 2019, and we want to return to the forefront. We are looking forward to being in Bahrain. »
Roy Nissany, in addition to the support from Williams, brings some sponsors to the team, notably Make a Wish Israel and Start-up Nation Israel.
