With the announcement of the postponement of the Australian Grand Prix and the probable cancellation of the trip to Shanghai, some media have concluded that the first urban races of the season could not take place and would be canceled again. This concerns Monaco, as well as Baku and Montreal.

However, this is not at all the viewpoint of the main parties involved, namely the organizers. Thus, the statement from the Automobile Club de Monaco is perfectly clear on the subject: Contrary to rumors circulated on certain websites and shared on social networks, the Automobile Club de Monaco confirms that the 78th Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix will take place from May 20th to 23rd, 2021. The same applies to the 12th Monaco Historic Grand Prix (April 23-25, 2021) and the 4th Monaco E-Prix (May 8, 2021)…

It must be said that the constraints of Monaco are very complex due to its location in the middle of the city. To install the 33 kilometers of rails that line the track, work begins nearly seven weeks before the event, which is around mid-March if we consider the Formula E race.

It should be noted that this will not be the first motorized event in the Principality since it will indeed host its traditional WRC rally starting this weekend, but the constraints related to the public and road arrangements are much less.
