Lewis Hamilton still uncertain for Abu Dhabi
Will we see Lewis Hamilton this season? Two days before the start of the weekend, it is not yet certain.

The Sakhir Grand Prix left everyone in the paddock wanting more. The chaos at Mercedes certainly deprived George Russell of his first F1 victory, despite him making no mistakes all weekend. Having a second chance this Sunday in Abu Dhabi would be a nice compensation.
But for that to happen, the seat must still be available. Yesterday, Lewis Hamilton posted a video on social media where he stated he was feeling better and aimed for a return to competition as soon as possible.
Today, Mercedes sent out its traditional start-of-weekend information note, and the question is still unresolved, as explained by Toto Wolff, the team director: There are still questions about who will be in the car in Abu Dhabi. Lewis’s physical condition has improved, but we will only know later if he will drive. We will do everything we can to have him in the car. We know he is determined to return as quickly as possible. But his health is our main priority.
A first element of response is that the FIA published the list of those called for the Thursday press conference, placing George Russell with Mercedes and Jack Aitken with Williams. However, this is not prohibitive for a return of Lewis Hamilton, as he has until Friday late afternoon (local time) to be tested and deemed fit to re-enter the paddock’s health bubble and drive.
In any case, the Mercedes single-seaters will feature a special livery for the end of the championship as they will display the names of all employees from the Brackley and Brixworth factories. The team has also revised its internal procedures to avoid the obvious mistake from last week: « The problem during the pit stop revealed an issue in our communication system. We have implemented both technical and procedural countermeasures to ensure it does not happen again. »
