Gasly penalized on the grid!
Pierre Gasly was penalized by the stewards for a modification to the power unit elements of his AlphaTauri.
As stated a few minutes ago on Motors Inside, Pierre Gasly was under threat of a penalty regarding his power unit.
The verdict has been delivered, the Normand will start last on the grid for having violated article 23.3 a) of the FIA Formula 1 Sporting Regulations.
According to the commissioners, « The stewards determine that the specified penalty for the work allowed in Parc Fermé is in effect from the moment the change was started, whether the change of the power unit was ultimately carried out or not. »
The AlphaTauri driver qualified thirteenth during the Turkish Grand Prix qualifying. Starting from the last position, he will have opportunities to climb up in this race that promises to be eventful.
