Gasly risks being penalized before the start of the Turkish Grand Prix
The Italian team AlphaTauri risks being handed grid penalties even before the start of the Grand Prix. While under Parc Fermé conditions, Pierre Gasly's car underwent changes to engine components.

Following the qualifications, the engineers from Faenza noticed an issue with the engine of Pierre Gasly’s car. AlphaTauri thus requested permission from the FIA last night to make these changes.
The single-seater with the number 10 was therefore dismantled overnight to resolve the issues detected by a rainy qualifying. But there’s a twist this morning as the AlphaTauri team withdraws its initial request with the FIA. Doubt settles in the minds of the stewards, who are now wondering if AlphaTauri might have made this request for strategic reasons.
For the FIA, « The car was dismantled to a stage where it is impossible for the technical stewards, as well as other supervisory means in place, to ensure that no modifications were made to any component of the car by disassembling and reassembling the original elements. »
As a reminder, Pierre Gasly qualified yesterday in thirteenth position during the Turkish Grand Prix qualifications.
