Interlagos will host the Brazilian Grand Prix until 2025
It's official, the Brazilian Grand Prix will keep its legendary Interlagos track for an additional five years.

If the battle in racing is sometimes fierce between some Formula 1 drivers, it can also be so in politics. Endorsed by Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, the project to build a track in Rio de Janeiro was increasingly competing with the Interlagos circuit. In the end, it was the governor of Sao Paulo who had the final say in favor of Interlagos, signing an additional 5-year contract with Liberty Media.
The governor of Sao Paulo, João Doria, stated; I am proud to announce that F1 has just renewed the contract to host the Brazilian Grand Prix until 2025. The Interlagos circuit has been confirmed as the venue for the next five years. The contract will be signed by Mayor Bruno Covas and by Liberty Media, the holder of the commercial rights to F1.
The project of a new circuit in the city of Rio was a topic of debate, as its construction endangered one of the last wooded areas in this large Brazilian city. Widely criticized by many Brazilians, as well as by the national press, some even tried to get a reaction from Lewis Hamilton, who is known for his environmental engagement.
