Coronavirus: Stroll’s Revelation!
Lance Stroll only informs us this Wednesday: he tested positive for coronavirus right after the Eifel Grand Prix!

Unprecedented scenario for this 2020 Formula 1 season: Lance Stroll revealed this Wednesday, October 21, a positive coronavirus test result obtained… just after the Eifel Grand Prix! As a reminder, the Racing Point driver missed the race at the Nürburgring, after pulling out on Saturday morning, just before the start of the third practice session.
Positive just after the Eifel Grand Prix
Replaced at the last minute by Nico Hülkenberg, Stroll finally explains the reason for his absence via a message shared on social media:
« I just wanted to let you know that I tested positive for Covid-19 after the Eifel Grand Prix weekend, » the Canadian driver tells us this Wednesday morning.
In detail, Stroll indicates that he had a first negative test upon his arrival at the Nürburgring on the Wednesday before the race. However, he started to feel unwell on Saturday morning, with stomach pains. Following the FIA’s health protocol, Stroll isolated himself in his motorhome, without circulating in the paddock.
Not in condition to drive, Stroll therefore gave his place to Hülkenberg. The son of the owner of the Racing Point team flew back home on Sunday morning of the Eifel Grand Prix.
In his message, Stroll also informs us that he stayed in isolation at home for the 10 days following the race, with mild coronavirus symptoms. His health has improved, and the latest COVID test conducted this Monday came back negative.
Back for the Portuguese Grand Prix!
The Racing Point driver concludes his message by emphasizing that he now feels in shape. He is therefore returning to the cockpit of his car for this weekend’s Portuguese Grand Prix.
