Official: Renault F1 Team will become Alpine F1 Team in 2021!
The rumor had been spreading in the paddock and on social media for a few days, it's now official! Renault F1 Team will become Alpine F1 Team in 2021.

Cyril Abiteboul reacted in the press in recent days by saying that this decision was not within his purview but rather that of the CEO of Renault. Luca de Meo thus made the decision by announcing the news this Sunday morning in Monza. Alpine F1 Team will enter Formula 1 starting next season.
Renault nevertheless continues its participation as a manufacturer in Formula 1, supported by the new Concorde agreements. The diamond will be represented by Alpine, which becomes a standalone and autonomous brand within the Renault group. The Enstone structure will still retain the Renault E-TECH hybrid power unit manufactured in Viry-Chatillon. The chassis will take the name Alpine.
Alpine is not an unknown brand to motorsport fans as it has shone in the past in endurance and rally. The new CEO of Renault, who took office in July, is beginning a new strategic approach for the group. Alpine will be the sporty brand of the diamond, replacing the Renault Sport entity.
This new identity is also important from a marketing perspective since the Alpine name will have global reach with its single-seaters engaged in Grand Prix. Formula 1 is a research center at the forefront of innovation but also a perfect communication tool.
By changing identity, the team will also change colors. Goodbye to yellow and black, the team will use Alpine blue along with white and red to represent the national colors. The Alpine drivers are already known. They are Esteban Ocon, current Renault driver, and Fernando Alonso who will make his grand return to Formula 1 in 2021 under these new colors.
Alpine is a beautiful brand, powerful and vibrant, that puts a smile on the face of its enthusiasts, explains Luca de Meo. By launching Alpine, a symbol of French excellence, into the most prestigious global motorsport discipline, we continue the adventure of manufacturers in a renewed sport. We also bring a dream brand alongside the biggest names, for spectacular motor races made and followed by enthusiasts. Alpine will finally bring its values to the Formula 1 paddock: elegance, ingenuity, and audacity.
This change comes at a key moment in the team’s and sport’s trajectory, comments Cyril Abiteboul. Alpine brings a new meaning, new values, and colors to the paddock with a competitive spirit from other universes and French creative agility. These will be assets in preparing for the 2022 deadlines. The new regulatory and financial framework will establish the conditions for a more equitable motorsport in its revenue distribution, simpler and more progressive in its governance. The implementation of the budget cap will put an end to the spending race and will allow the signing teams to be valued for their sporting value. Alpine has its place in Formula 1 and can aim for victory.
